OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults), formerly known as RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiations of Adults). is the formation for the conversion to the Roman Catholic faith. The change from RCIA to OCiA emphasizes that the process to become a Roman Catholic should not be rushed and can be entered at anytime.
OCIA is a process that prepares adults and children over the age of 7 for reception into the Catholic faith. A team of dedicated individuals are responsible for leading these candidates and catechumens through their journey to the Easter Sacraments. Team members share their faith, present various topics on the Catholic faith, and help those in the process to grow in the Roman Catholic faith and deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ. God so that they may experience the fullness of conversion with their reception into the Church.
OCIA classes begin in September and are held on Wednesday evenings at 7:00PM for approximately one hour and continue until the applicants are fully Initiated in the Roman Catholic faith at the Easter Vigil. Full Initiation is the reception of the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Communion
